Since 1991, the biologists at Rhithron Associates have provided taxonomic services for freshwater invertebrates, diatoms, and non-diatom algae for clients throughout North America. Our exacting quality assurance protocols, which include evaluation of the accuracy and precision of taxonomic determinations and enumerations, the efficiency of sample sorting, and the accuracy of data handling and metric calculation, distinguish our work.
All of Rhithron's taxonomists are NABS-certified; together, we hold certifications in Chironomids from Eastern and Western US, EPT from Eastern and Western US, General Arthropods from Eastern and Western US, and Oligochaetes from all US regions. Our staff is prepared to analyze your invertebrate and algae samples and deliver reliable data at reasonable prices and turnaround times. At present, we are capable of analyzing 300 macroinvertebrate samples, 80 diatom samples, and 80 non-diatom algae samples each month.
Rhithron's 2 diatomists have extensive experience with the periphyton flora of North America. Quality assurance for their work is provided by Dr. Loren Bahls, who also assures consistency with the taxonomic standards drafted by the Academy of Natural Science in Philadelphia.
Statistical data analysis and narrative interpretation are also available; Rhithron's Chief Biologist has authored more than 200 reports based on aquatic invertebrate and periphyton data.
